Cold War, Almeida Theatre

Paweł Pawlikowski’s Cold War will be performed at the Almeida Theatre from 30 November 2023 to 27 January 2024.
Rupert Goold will direct the play which is based on the book by Conor McPherson adapted from Pawlikowski’s film. The performance will feature Anya Chalotra, Luke Thallon and Elliot Levey, as well as music from Elvis Costello. There will also be traditional Polish songs.
“When I first saw Paweł Pawlikowski’s film Cold War, I was swept away by its beauty, passion and style,” says Almeida Artistic Director Rupert Goold. “Its theatricality struck me as ripe for a stage adaption.”
Cold War Plot
Set in Poland in 1949, Cold War features singer Zula, and composer Wiktor who are drawn to each other and dream of escaping communist Poland. This is a love story that spans decades.
