People, Places and Things starring Denise Gough runs at the Trafalgar Theatre in London from 3 May to 10 August.
Duncan Macmillan’s play is directed by Jeremy Herrin. The original National Theatre run was co-produced with Headlong. Denise Gough won an Olivier Award (2016) for playing Emma, a struggling actress.
The play received much acclaim when first performed at the NT’s Dorfman theatre in September 2015 before transferring to Wyndham’s Theatre and St. Ann’s Warehouse, New York.
Denise Gough, said, “I am beyond excited and so grateful to be returning to the role of Emma in People, Places and Things. Duncan Macmillan’s incredible play was a life changing experience for me and many others. It brought me pure joy, night after night, to take to the stage to share Emma’s story and I can’t wait to bring her back to new audiences and to give voice, and space, to people that live with or have experienced any form of addiction.”

Emma founds herself in rehab and to recover she has to admit she has a problem. But is the problem her own? She has to tell the truth, but does this exist, and is intoxication the only way to survive the reality of the modern world?
