The Franklin London – Starhotels Collezione, Knightsbridge, has announced the launch of a new afternoon tea inspired by the Alice: Curiouser and Curiouser exhibition at the nearby Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A).

Diners booking the Alice at The Franklin afternoon tea have the option of a package that includes a pre-reserved ticket to one of London’s most in-demand exhibitions at the V&A.

Taking an imaginative twist on what a modern-day Alice might want from an afternoon tea after she has taken a journey through Wonderland, the Alice at The Franklin menu begins with a savoury sandwich course, including a Crab Bun filled with crab salad, soy mayo, avocado, cucumber and lime, as well as a Beetroot Pita with burrata cheese and bresaola – a nod to The Franklin’s Italian hospitality heritage.

Sweet treats continue with a Brownie Hat, a chocolate top hat filled with pecan sablé, kataifi pastry, brownie sponge and soft pecan cream; a Heart Cake red velvet sponge with vanilla butter cream and raspberry compote; and a Carrot Caramel Cupcake filled with orange sablé, caramel mousse and meringue, decorated with a white rabbit and a caterpillar. Freshly baked scones, including a blueberry scone topped with berry meringue resembling a mushroom, complete the tea experience.

The menu is served alongside a tea selection from Camellia’s Tea House in London, which includes green, white and black tea options, as well as bespoke classic blends created for The Franklin. A champagne afternoon tea, served with one glass per person, is also available.

Diners booking the afternoon tea and exhibition ticket option will be allocated a pre-booked timed ticket for the Alice: Curiouser and Curiouser exhibition to be used on the day of their reservation.

The Franklin London

The literary Alice displayed creative curiosity and fearless independence and, as the V&A’s exhibition seeks to explore, is a strong female character still inspiring contemporary culture and society, and anyone who asks, “Who am I?” Tucked away on one of London’s most exclusive streets, The Franklin London is the result of a creative collaboration between successful interior designer, Anouska Hempel, and Starhotels President and CEO, Elisabetta Fabri, creating an opulent and luxurious setting that combines the elegance of a Victorian townhouse with the decorative splendour of an Italian palazzo.

The Franklin London is a corporate partner of the V&A and its Alice at The Franklin afternoon tea is the latest in a series of dining experiences that have celebrated major exhibitions at the museum. Past inspirations have included Frida Kahlo, Christian Dior and Tim Walker.

The Alice at The Franklin afternoon tea is served between 2.30pm and 5pm Monday to Sunday until 31 December 2021.

The Alice at The Franklin afternoon tea is priced at £45 per person. Afternoon tea with exhibition ticket for Alice: Curiouser and Curiouser is priced at £55 per person. A champagne afternoon tea option is available priced at £65 with exhibition ticket or at £55 without exhibition ticket.
