Standing at the Sky’s Edge

Standing at the Sky’s Edge will be performed at the National Theatre’s Olivier Theatre from 9 February to 25 March. With music and lyrics by Richard Hawley, based on a book by Chris Bush, this is a co-production with Sheffield Theatres and in association with Various Productions.
Plot of Standing at the Sky’s Edge
Poppy wishes to move on from her previous life in London. Jimmy and Joy desire to live out their days together. Harry and Rose want the new life that has been promised to them.
Standing at the Sky’s Edge traces the multi-generational aspirations over six decades. It is both a love letter to Sheffield and a history of contemporary Britain told through the lives of one historic estate. A moving examination of the importance of belonging and the home, it is set to the melodies of renowned Sheffield singer-songwriter Richard Hawley.
The multi-award winning UK musical makes its London debut.
Also showing at the National Theatre are Phaedra and Romeo and Julie.
