A highlight in UK capital’s music calendar, the EFG London Jazz Festival is held each November. This year in accordance with governemnet guidelines the festival will be held virtually.
The full schedule of live streamed events can be found here. The rest of this article relates to the 2019 London Jazz Festival. We will update it for the 2022 festival, which hopefully will once more involve live in person events, when details become known.
To some of us, November in the capital means one thing – the EFG London Jazz Festival. Over 10 days, this is a matchless opportunity to hear some of the scene’s top names and experience the newest jazz from around the globe. It all takes place in more than 60 venues, from big halls to packed basements, and there are film screenings, free events and workshops open to everyone.
The London Jazz Festival takes place from 13-22 November, 2020.
Full details are yet to be announced, the following refers to the 2019 Jazz Festival.

The legendary Herbie Hancock will play the London Barbican on 17 November, with Chrissie Hynde playing the Royal Festival Hall on 24 November with the Valve Bon Woe Ensemble.
Other confirmed acts include The Art Ensemble of Chicago (see above) Cassie Kinoshi’s SEED Ensemble, Calexico (see below), Dan Tepfer, Marius Neset, Omar Puente and friends, Ashley Henry, Corinne Bailey Rae, Cleveland Watkiss, Makaya McCraven, Christian Scott and Lucia Cadotsch.
There are over 350 shows in total and the breadth of style is daunting.
